Tropical Dragon Fruit is an exotic cactus fruit that is sweet, juicy and crisp. It has a taste reminiscent to that of pear, kiwi and watermelon. Also known as Pitahaya or Pitaya, this fruit (hylocereus undatus) is part of the cactus family and grows in tropical climates in Southeast Asia as well as Central and South America. The fruit is round and its exterior rind ranges in color from yellow to red, and the flesh is either white or red, always with dark seeds. It is delicious as a fresh fruit or as juice.
