Featured Fruit Product: IQF Mango

Mango, the King of Fruits The mango originated in Southeast Asia where it has been grown for over 4,000 years. Over the years mango groves have spread to many parts of the tropical and sub-tropical world, where the climate allows the mango to grow best. Most of the mangos sold in the United States are imported from Mexico, Haiti, the Caribbean and South America. Today there are over 1,000 different varieties of mangos throughout the world. Mangoes account for approximately fifty percent of all tropical fruits produced worldwide.

The ripe fruit is variable in size and color, and may be yellow, orange, red or green. When ripe, the unpeeled fruit gives off a distinctive sweet smell. The flavors are delicious and aromatic, and the fruit is high in sugars and acid. In India they are known as "the king of fruits" and this popular fruit can be used in an extensive range of food and beverage applications.
